As Davis Islands first inhabitants moved in, this 3-story garage was being built in 1926. The $200,000, 183-space brick and concrete facility was equipped with two entry doors that faced Columbia Drive and opened in March of 1927. Its primary function was car storage, costing $10 a month. It also had two gas pumps and offered valet (they took customers home and picked them up), overnight car maintenance services such as washing, waxing, and greasing, and free daily checks of battery water, tire air pressure, and fuel.
In 1958, the Davis Island Medical Building, now known as One Davis Medical Building, opened its doors and was to house at least 60 doctors and a pharmacy. A rooftop deck was added for building personnel. This garage was reconfigured to share a driveway with that building and is now a dedicated parking facility for One Davis.
