The Hyatt Place and Hyatt House, 301 Florida Ave. 2021
The G. Norman Baughman Company was incorporated in 1912 as a service industry for automobiles (called jobbers). They delivered wholesale car parts and accessories throughout the area using trucks and motorcycles. They later became the regional distributor for Majestic car radios, a widely popular brand.
In 1961, Mr. and Mrs. A.B. Grandoff remodeled the building by sandblasting the bricks, replacing the windows, and renaming it 301 Florida Building. It was demolished and turned into a parking lot. The Hyatt Place and Hyatt House, a dual lodging concept, opened in 2021 on the land.
