Nu Icy was a national soda bottling company that enjoyed success in the 1920s. They sponsored a radio variety show heard in Tampa on WDAE. This plant opened in 1930 at 3008 North Boulevard when it took over the Coral Rock Dry Ginger Ale plant. The facility had one filling machine with one tap. Advertising “assorted flavors you can’t forget”, Nu Icy was bottled in several cities, including Savannah, Georgia, Richmond, Kentucky, and Torrington, Connecticut. Records are scarce after 1930 as to the disposition of the company.
By the mid-1940s, this location housed Jack’s Cookie Company. Jack’s stayed until 1957 when it sold the property to Drucas Moving and Storage, which used it as a storage facility. In the 1980s, it was home to ACCU-Tech Home Industries and has housed several businesses since. There is growing interest in the Riverside Heights neighborhood where the structure is located. The building awaits its next iteration.
