The Palace of Florence is an example of the Mediterranean revival style architecture built on Davis Islands during the 1920s land boom. The islands were planned as a resort community for the Tampa elite and once featured a prominent country club, a Coliseum with a skating rink that later morphed into a bowling alley and cocktail lounge, luxury hotels, and a 9-hole golf course. The Palace of Florence, now an apartment building, remains beautifully preserved.
