Sebastian Agliano started his career by selling fish door to door before opening S. Agliano & Sons Fish Company. The store supplied seafood to many local restaurants, including the popular El Pasaje Plaza, which was known for its seafood. They moved to this location in 1926, and it became a place where Ybor City residents gathered to discuss politics and smoke cigars and a bustling place for the fish business.
The fish market closed in 2005 after a 90-year run. Third-generation Buster Agliano died in 2004 after a battle with cancer, and the family decided not to carry on. The building was sold in 2005 to Joe Capitano and Jacob Buchman for $450,000. In 2017, chocolatier Qachbal opened after moving from Channelside. In 2019, the Ybor City Food Mart, owned by third-generation Cuban Americans, opened its doors and is still in business there.
