Cameron & Barkley Machinery and Industrial Supplies opened their shop here at 107 S. Franklin St. in 1909. It was a good location for industrial supplies since this section of downtown held warehouses, shipping, and railroad terminals. After remodeling the building in 1939, they remained in business here through the mid-1950s. By the 1960s, the building was a warehouse for Cannon’s Music, which transitioned to The Music Mart later that decade.

In 1976, after the building was purchased for $135,000, the building was again remodeled, creating office space on the lower two floors and executive storage on the third. In 1987, Back Bay Outfitters opened shop selling casual wear, backpacking, and camping gear. In 1997, the sports bar Hattricks opened its doors amid controversy over its liquor license. The project got behind schedule, and the owners missed the deadline for opening before their special wet zoning permit expired. Possibly endearing themselves to thirsty sports fand, the owners decided to let customers drink for free (two glasses of beer or wine) until the license issues were resolved.
