Founded in 1902 by a group of Spanish immigrants, this Beaux-Arts classical revival style architecture building was constructed to support and house its members. It was built in 1914 following a fire that destroyed the first clubhouse. Like other mutual aid societies of the time, membership in the Centro Asturiano provided medical assistance and entertainment for the collective benefit of its members. They operated the El Sanitorio del Centro Asturiano hospital from 1905 until it closed in 1990.

In this photo, the Teatro C Austuriano marquee reads, “Hoy, Hoy. Debut Debut. Espanol Jose Abella con Los Molino de Viento Del Celebrando Trio Argetino,” advertising the opening of a show.

Today, the building has few external changes and is primarily an event space. It has been added to the National Register of Historic Places.
