In 1928, this property housed B&M Garage which promoted itself as a filling station and wood yard, complete with living quarters. It was commonplace for service station owners to live on the property then. See the chimney in the photo? There’s another of equal size in the middle of the building. Coleman’s Super Service, selling Pure Oil products, advertised having “Aeroplane Quality and Submarine Prices” for its auto repair, was there in 1936. The property was sold to Seaboard Oil Company in 1945 for $10,500 and was named Byrd’s Service Station.
In 1956, a business called Circle Auto Service resided there, and by the 1960s, still selling the Pure Oil brand, it was named William Brothers Pure Oil Station. A 1973 public auction was held on the site for bankruptcy. Several businesses and people have been listed at the property since then. Keeping with its auto theme, in 2023, the building was painted blue, and a tire shop opened.
