Religious worship was a central tenet across a large section of American culture in the early and mid-20th century. Churches like the First United Brethren Church were built as grand structures in many communities in Tampa, creating a place of worship and fellowship. Constituted in 1911 and dedicated in 1916, this red English-type brick structure featured 38 stained-glass windows and was first settled by Rev. W. T. Frank. It was built in Ybor Heights, a neighborhood just north of the then-burgeoning Ybor City.
In 1993, the congregation of the Deeper Life Christian Church moved from its facility on Nebraska Avenue. After renovation the church opened its national headquarters here and continues to serve its congregation and community.
