As the Dale Mabry corridor expanded, Morton Williams, known for catering to fashion-conscious women, opened this location in 1957. At their peak, the retailer had six locations. In July of 1963, Morton Williams moved next door to this location to what is now Lightstyle of Tampa Bay.
Also in 1963, Kirby’s Menswear moved from their previous spot across Dale Mabry at Carriage Trade Plaza to this location. The third generation of the founding Shine family still runs Kirby’s. Advertisements for the liquidation of Morton Williams’ assets appear in 1978.
