According to its website, the Palma Ceia United Methodist Church was founded in 1946. Initially, they met at the Palma Ceia Theater on MacDill Avenue, now an attorney’s office. In 1946, a charter member, William C Pierce, donated the property at the corner of Bay-to-Bay Boulevard and Dale Mabry Highway. Additional lots were eventually purchased to complete the campus. They broke ground for the first building in 1948 and the sanctuary in 1951

The congregation began meeting in the incomplete building in 1952. The beautiful rose window still there today was installed in 1953, and in 1955, they opened the Palma Ceia United Methodist Day School.
