This is one of the rare Burgert Brothers night shots. It is very well done and an example of their expertise in photography. Film cameras were not as forgiving as today’s digitals. Pee Gee distributed Mastic Paint, a 2-coat system that helped fight UV light, to local hardware stores in the early 1940s. In 1949, they took over this building at 2809 Florida Ave, also known as Peaslee-Gaulbert Paint and Varnish (probably where the nickname Pee Gee came from), opening their storefront. In 1957, the store went on the market for sale or lease, leading to the opening of Listers Used Furniture, and in 1979, the building was once again for sale for $39,500.
Iglesia Monte Sinai AIC (Mount Sinai Church) is the current occupant of the building.
